My entire 26-year career has been spent helping students develop strong written communication skills. I have worked with students from all skill backgrounds and helped them reach their writing goals. It is also important to note that my training is specifically in teaching and in writing. I have worked as a consultant for the College Board to teach other teachers how to teach writing most effectively. This experience has also kept me in touch with what universities are expecting their students to do in the way of writing and thinking.

The book I always go back to when I have a rough day, or when life gets confusing, or when I have something to celebrate is Jonathan Livingston Seagull by Richard Bach. It’s a “simple” little book that has carried me through the worst and best of times and has inspired my life and career again and again since I first read it at age 10. I also very much like the writings of Albert Einstein. Most people think of him as a mathematician, but he was also an excellent writer.
